True desires will be unearthed ... For readers of Zoe Foster-Blake, Candace Bushnell and Gourmet Traveller, a delightful sexy story that spans the Australian wine country, the French provinces and hip bars of Melbourne.

Is life too short to play it safe?

Kit Gossard's life is neatly mapped out. A secure photographic job. A partner ready to commit. A wedding in the family vineyard for her mother to preside over.
So why the apprehension? Why a hunger for something ... more?
Then someone new appears. Earthy, reserved, magnetic, this new man brings out feelings she has long suppressed, and suddenly Kit can't contain her simmering discontent.
Black truffle hunting, illicit pastry lessons, vine fruit on flesh — Kit is seduced.
It feels right. Before it all goes wrong.
Artful, sexy, sophisticated, The Dangers of Truffle Hunting explores how a man can be more to a woman than a destination.

Kit Gossard thinks her life is on track. She’s a photographer for an internationally renowned food magazine, and is engaged to a man who can provide a secure future. So on a trip home to her family’s boutique vineyard, Kit is surprised to find she harbours a secret desire for something more. When she meets Raph, the handsome, reserved newcomer to the estate, that desire becomes a deeply embedded hunger for the unrestrained. What follows will test Kit’s patience and integrity as she learns that unearthing the key to happiness is not always so straightforward. Kit is a somewhat frustrating main character, although as the story unfolds it becomes apparent this frustration stems from Kit’s inner struggle to reconcile her desires with what is expected of her. The globe-spanning locales of Melbourne’s inner city, Australian wine country and French provinces also reflect Kit’s longing for something more exotic and exciting than the neatly planned out life she leads. The author’s passion for food and fashion is evident, with richly detailed references to both throughout. A little slow to start, it is nonetheless an enjoyable summer read with some well-developed characters—Rosa and her French cooking school are just divine! It is recommended for fans of Zoë Foster-Blake and Lauren Weisberger. Jessica Slade is a bookseller at Abbey’s Bookshop
